Martini will step away from Formula one and end their role as title sponsor of Williams after the 2018 season.
The sponsorship deal began in 2014, with the like of Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas racing in the iconic Martini colours.
According to Motorsport.com, the two discussed a possible contract extension and even a switch to another team but the decision was made to terminate the contract entirely.
Claire Williams, deputy team principle of the team said; “Bacardi group have told us that they will step away entirely from Formula one.”
Whilst this comes as a finance blow, it is not of grave concern for the Mercedes powered team. The recent addition of Russian sponsor Acronis and Lance Stroll’s father showing financial interest in the team suggests William’s will easily find alternate funding.
